IF YOU LIVED HERE, YOU WOULD BE HOME NOW:  A Film About Jack Lewis and Bridgeville, DE
A Special Event at the Cinema Art Theater in Lewes

On February 28, the Rehoboth Beach Film Society in partnership with the Rehoboth Art League will present a very special screening of If You Lived Here, You Would Be Home Now: A Film About Jack Lewis and Bridgeville, DE. This charming documentary by Director David Peterson about one of Delaware’s most famous artists, Jack Lewis. His contributions impacted the local community and other titles included writer and teacher. His paintings of area scenes are collected and adorn the walls of private homes, businesses, and public buildings throughout the state.

A humorous, moving ramble through a unique Delaware town captures how painter Jack Lewis changed the lives of those least exposed to the arts. After meeting a variety of townspeople, including inmates at the local prison, it becomes clear to Lewis that his influence affects every aspect of life in this little town. [1999, US, 86 min]

“We are excited to partner with the Rehoboth Beach Film Society to continue raising awareness about the artistic contributions of Jack Lewis to the region. Sharing a film about his life and work in Bridgeville, the Rehoboth Art League, and beyond will be the perfect way to help close out our Everyday Life, Everyday People exhibition of his work, which runs through March 5,” says Rehoboth Art Leage Executive Director Sara Ganther.

Everyday Life, Everyday People: The Work of Jack Lewis is on display at the Rehoboth Art League through March 5, 2023.

The film premiered at the National Gallery of Art in Washington, DC and is now in the permanent collection of the museum. An Independent Spirit Award Nominee, the documentary was a CINE Golden Eagle Award winner and had its National debut on PBS broadcast in 2003.

Screening time is 6 pm on Tues (Feb 28). General Admission is $9. Purchase advance tickets at www.rehobothfilm.com or at the Cinema Art Theater box office in Lewes beginning 30 minutes prior to the screening.
