JESUS REVOLUTION Opening at the Cinema Art Theater in Lewes

Opening May 12, the Rehoboth Beach Film Society’s Cinema Art Theater presents Jesus Revolution, a fascinating real-life story that turns one counterculture movement into a revival that changes the world.

Young Greg Laurie (Joel Courtney) is being raised by his struggling mother, Charlene (Kimberly Williams-Paisley) in the 1970s. Laurie and a sea of young people descend on sunny Southern California to redefine truth through all means of liberation and rock n roll. Inadvertently, Laurie meets Lonnie Frisbee (Jonathan Roumie), a charismatic hippie-street-preacher, and Pastor Chuck Smith (Kelsey Grammer) who have thrown open the doors of Smith's languishing church to a stream of wandering youth. What unfolds becomes the greatest spiritual awakening in American history. [2023, US, 120 min, Rating: NR]

Lupe Rodriquez of CineMovie.tv writes, “The film is inspirational and beautiful when Pastor Chuck opens his church to those in need of guidance. Jonathan Roumie is charismatic as the hippie preacher. It also tackles the hypocrisy of religion, although there's a level of it in the ending.”

Screening times are 2 pm on Fri (May 12) and 7 pm on Sat (May 13). Admission is $9 for members, $11.50 for general audiences and $5 for students. Purchase advance tickets online at rehobothfilm.com or at the Cinema Art Theater box office in Lewes beginning 30 minutes prior to the screening.
