National Train Day in Lewes

May 13th, 2023 - 10:00 am to 3:30 pm

Come to the Event - National Train Day!
Of course it’s on your calendar! But in case you forget to look… this Saturday, May 13, is National Train Day and LJRBA will be celebrating at the red caboose in Lewes.

The day starts at 10:00am with children’s activities at the Lewes Public Library.

LJRBA’s program begins at 12:00pm in front of the red caboose at Lewes Junction and will feature invited speakers, recognition of our supporters, and the official christening of the caboose and ceremonial driving of our own golden spike into the restored railroad track.

Next door in the Lewes History Museum, the Lewes Historical Society will offer a lecture on the railroad’s importance to Lewes and Sussex County at 1:30pm.

Concluding the day’s festivities, Doug Poore, author of several books on Delaware railroad history, will present a lecture at 2:30pm in the library.

LJRBA board members and friends will be on-site throughout the day to answer your questions, and to thank you for your support. We look forward to seeing you there!
