Oppenheimer - Critically acclaimed film opening at the Cinema Art Theater in Lewes
Special Event Rosieheimer – The Atomic Era

Opening September 15, the Rehoboth Beach Film Society’s Cinema Art Theater presents Oppenheimer, a cinematographic masterpiece by director Christopher Nolan that gives us a look into a profound historical event. The Society is pleased to feature this critically acclaimed film as part of its look back on the Atomic Era which will kick-off with Top Secret Rosies with Filmmaker, LeAnn Erickson (sold-out) and A Compassionate Spy.

During World War II, Lt. Gen. Leslie Groves Jr. appoints physicist J. Robert Oppenheimer (Cillian Murphy) to work on the top-secret Manhattan Project. Oppenheimer and a team of scientists spend years developing and designing the atomic bomb. Their work comes to fruition on July 16, 1945, as they witness the world's first nuclear explosion, forever changing the course of history. The all-star cast includes among others Emily Blunt, Robert Downey, Jr. and Matt Damon [2023, US, 181 min, Rating: R]

Keith Phipps of The Reveal pens, “Every scene feels like a cataclysm waiting to happen, fitting for a film that builds, step-by-step, to the creation of a cataclysm machine. Oppenheimer both summons awe for what it took to build the bomb and for the changes it wrought.”
