Regional Film Showcase featuring SPENCER (Filmmaker – Geoff Lerer)
Friday, May 5 - 7pm
Imagine what Albert Brooks would be like if he was 26 years old in 2013, with a Canon 5D and all the attendant hopes and dreams of a young man who cannot fail, despite his best efforts. That's 'Spencer.' [Canada, 74 minutes, NR]. RBFS is thrilled to feature a welcome reception and special screening of local filmmaker and Lewes resident, Geoff Lerer’s feature SPENCER on Friday, May 5 at 7:00 PM. Geoff has kindly offered to direct the ticket sales proceeds to the Rehoboth Beach Film Society’s 25 for 25 Spring fundraising campaign -- to raise $25,000 for the Main Theater’s new D-Cinema projector.
A Post-panel discussion will be led by filmmaker Geoff Lerer and the audience is welcome to Regional Film Showcase Reception at 8:30 pm.
The Regional Film Showcase winners will be announced at the conclusion of the final encore screening on Sunday, May 7 at 2 pm. A Jury Prize of $1,000 and Honorable Mention prize of $275 will be awarded. This program is funded in part by the Morris and Rosyln Fierberg Fund.
“This festival provides local filmmakers with the opportunity to connect with an audience.” Said Helen Chamberlin, Executive Director.
The Regional Film Showcase official artwork was designed by Cinema Art Theater Associate Alix Robinson-Guy. Alix is a Millsboro resident and an English Major at McDaniel College.
Tickets are $5.00 per film at www.rehobothfilm.com or at the Cinema Art Theater box office in Lewes beginning 30 minutes prior to the screening.
The mission of the Rehoboth Beach Regional Film Showcase is to promote the art of filmmaking by showcasing the films of emerging regional filmmakers in a professional theater, to introduce audiences to the creative talents of regional filmmakers while providing opportunities for filmmakers and audiences to engage in post-screening discussions.
