The highly anticipated Lewes Historical Society Summer Craft Fair will be held on July 15th and July 16th from 9:00 a.m. – 4 p.m. rain or shine.  The Fair is well known for the exceptional quality of the craftspeople who exhibit each year. New and returning artisans hail from across Delmarva and the Eastern Shore; their expertise covers a wide variety of media including metalwork, pottery, woodwork, and watercolor to name just a few.

Plan to spend the day and enjoy the festive atmosphere of our main campus whose historic buildings will be open to the public. Stop by Sussex Tavern in the Rabbits Ferry House for a period beverage or cold ale! Thompson Store will be open for business, and there will be various activities throughout the day for our younger visitors.  The complex is filled with beautiful shade trees and gardens, providing a beautiful backdrop for your visit.

Throughout the day the air will be filled with the sound of live music! Steel Happiness featuring Mike Cook will set the day’s vibe with the sweet sounds of the steel drum.  In the afternoon, The Pros from Dover Duo will take the stage with a cool and eclectic mix of blues, R&B, roots rock, and 60s pop.

On Sunday at noon, Ampersand takes the stage and calls on the groups’ backgrounds in history to share the stories behind the songs. Lively performances include singalongs, fiddle tunes, ballads, sea shanties, and children’s songs.

New this year are our Raffles.  Take a chance (or two) and you just might win big!

No fair is complete without delectable food offerings and this year’s vendors will not disappoint!  On Saturday, Amy’s Grill is sure to satisfy with simple, delicious food made with fresh local ingredients.  Fan favorites include Amy’s signature strawberry lemonade, homemade milkshakes, sausage and peppers, and all-white-meat chicken sandwiches. And what could be better on Sunday than breakfast with Girls on Fire, known for their Good Food Made with Love!  Egg sandwiches are guaranteed to satisfy – scrapple anyone?  Many yummy lunch items will also be available and there will be vegetarian options.   Other local organizations will also be on hand to make sure there are ample goodies!

And no event on the LHS Historic Main Campus would be complete without our interpretive staff providing an up-close glimpse of long-ago Lewes through historically accurate activities.

Proceeds from this event will benefit educational and preservation programs at the Lewes Historical Society.
