The recent Valentine’s Day weekend Lewes Yappy Hour event at Irish Eyes, sponsored by the Lewes Chamber of Commerce and benefitting the Delaware SPCA in Georgetown, took place on Friday night, February 13. Dogs and people who like to ‘yap’ gathered on the Irish Eyes heated porch to feast on delicious food and refreshing libations. Area businesses and organizations made donations for raffle drawing prizes and a 50/50 raffle raised $2,105 in two hours for the Delaware SPCA. Irish Eyes made an additional donation to them based on a percentage of the food revenue that day - this year it is $520.
The success of this event is directly attributable to the generosity of the following organizations and individuals. P.U.P.S. of Lewes former owner, Lesley Bowers, who conceived and has chaired the event since its inception 8 years ago and its current owner, Linda Madrid; Tail Bangers; Versus; Get Your Wag On; Ron Ladue of Long & Foster; Sam Bowers, also a former owner of P.U.P.S.; Tom & Charlene Jones, Dana Smith and Maryellen Kiernan of Irish Eyes; and all the volunteers from the SPCA.
