Our Mission: To inspire audiences, artists, and students through high-quality performances and educational experiences. Our Vision: To be a leader in the vibrant performing arts community of Southern Delaware. Clear Space Theatre’s 2018 season subscriptions are now on sale, and include tickets to 10 productions throughout the year (discounted by 20% off regular ticket prices), and your choice of a favorite seat and performance day that you can enjoy all season! And what a great season awaits! Clear Space kicks off the year with BASKERVILLE, A Sherlock Holmes Mystery (January 26-February 11), followed by BYE BYE BIRDIE (March 16-April 1), FUN HOME (May 4-20) and NOT THAT GIRL, a cabaret featuring Erin Bobby (June 1-3). As summer arrives, so does Clear Space’s popular summer theatre repertory season, this year featuring THE ROCKY HORROR SHOW (June 26-September 1), FOOTLOOSE (June 29-August 28) and MARY POPPINS (July 6-August 30). Just as the beach crowds begins to pack up its umbrellas (and the parking meters disappear!), Clear Space entertains with a full slate of fall productions: RABBIT HOLE (September 21-October 7), HEATHERS, The Musical (October 19-30), and A CHRISTMAS CAROL (November 23-December 9). Donna West, Vice Chair of Clear Space Theatre’s Board of Directors, is thrilled with the upcoming season: “The 2018 season showcases a favorite of mine in every decade since I was six years old! BYE BYE BIRDIE is the first musical that I can remember, followed by that American classic – MARY POPPINS. I’m sure I can still sing every line in those shows! We will be dancing in the aisles for FOOTLOOSE, and I can’t wait to see what audiences will wear for THE ROCKY HORROR SHOW! I’m so excited about seeing several of the new productions, and then ending the year with A CHRISTMAS CAROL. I think this season will break all attendance records – let the fun begin!” Discounted tickets (20% off) also are available, by separate subscription, for 2018’s Spotlight on Young Performers productions: THE WIZARD OF OZ (April 13-15) and WILLY WONKA (November 9-11). Produced through Clear Space’s Performing Arts Institute, each of these shows is the culmination of a semester’s work done by the middle- and high-school students chosen to participate in the Spotlight program. Annually, Clear Space commits to producing a show which focuses attention on an important social issue. In 2018, the theatre is collaborating with AIDS Delaware to produce THE NORMAL HEART (March 3 & 4). Full price tickets for THE NORMAL HEART may be purchased along with your season subscriptions; tickets also will be available later for separate purchase. Scott Thomas, Executive Director of Southern Delaware Tourism, is equally enthusiastic about Clear Space’s coming season. “Clear Space Theatre is a huge part of delivering the Arts to Delaware’s five-star beaches. Thanks to Clear Space, visitors from our surrounding metro areas have discovered topflight performances and programming in downtown Rehoboth Beach. This provides more options for year-round entertainment and contributes to Sussex County’s ever-expanding $1.7 billion tourism economy.” Additional information, including show synopses and a 2018 Season Subscription Form, is available at www.clearspacetheatre.org, or by calling the box office at 302-227-2270.
