70th Annual Cottage Tour of Art

July 9th, 2019 - 10:00 am to July 10th, 2019 - 3:00 pm

The Rehoboth Art League will hold the 70th Annual Cottage Tour of Art on July 9 and July 10, 2019, from 10 am-3 pm each day.

The homes on this event’s two-day self-paced tour always have very different landscapes, interior and architectural designs, ranging from historically significant to contemporary and eco-friendly. Some homes have quite an evolving history and many homeowners showcase memories, artwork, and collections in creative ways.

The Art League’s Historic Peter Marsh Homestead will be transformed with furnishings and décor by the tour underwriter J. Conn Scott. Richard Scott and Lisa Scott will blend modern furnishings and decorations to compliment the historical design in the first floor of the Homestead. In previous years, this has ranged from a white, slipcovered cottage look to a more colorful turquoise theme, and has some years included outdoor dining arrangements with elaborate table-scapes. Each year’s Homestead presentation is a special surprise.

Cottage Tour Artist for 2019
Born in Brooklyn, New York, Rosemary Connelly is a watermedia artist living and working in Milford, Delaware. Playful use of line and color are hallmarks of her painting style. Her layered approach to painting suggests the passage of time and human existence and she finds inspiration in historic towns, aging factories and barns and the beauty of the eastern shore.

Her work has been included in shows at Station Gallery in Greenville and Biggs Museum in Dover, DE and the Anne Lloyd Gallery in Decatur, IL. Her acrylic painting “Lewes Harbour Marina” was selected to hang in Delaware Senator Thomas Carper’s Wilmington office. She has been juried into shows throughout the state of Delaware, winning awards for her watercolors.

Rosemary practices and teaches the art of Watercolor Journaling and Urban Sketching and has taught workshops in New York, Illinois, California, Vermont, at Longwood Gardens, Pennsylvania, and all over the state of Delaware including the Delaware Art Museum.

She studied fine art, drawing, painting and graphic design at Arizona State University and Mesa Community College and worked for over 20 years as a professional graphic designer. Two years living and painting in Italy with her late husband fulfilled a dream to “live cheap and make art,” living a simple life focused on experiences, not material things. Travel remains an integral part of her life and work.

Rosemary is a member of the Rehoboth and Mispillion Art Leagues, Milton Arts Guild and Urban Sketchers. She is a founding member of Urban Sketchers Delaware and Chairperson of The Big Draw Delaware 2019 being organized by the Mispillion Art League, taking place in October throughout the state of Delaware, part an international Festival of Drawing.
