ASK DR. RUTH Opening at the Cinema Art Theater

Starting on May 10, the Rehoboth Beach Film Society’s Cinema Art Theater will present the documentary “Ask Dr. Ruth,” which chronicles the incredible life of Dr. Ruth Westheimer—a Holocaust survivor who became America's most famous sex therapist.

With her diminutive frame, thick German accent, and uninhibited approach to sex therapy and education, Dr. Ruth transformed the conversation around sexuality. As she approaches her 90th birthday and shows no signs of slowing down, Dr. Ruth revisits her painful past and unlikely path to a career at the forefront of the sexual revolution. [2019, US, 100 minutes, Not Rated].

Robert Abele of “TheWrap.com” compares the film to a recent beloved documentary: “A long-overdue bio-doc that, in its spirited way, is as affirming as last year's paean to another important octogenarian Ruth, ‘RBG.’ ” Clint Worthington of “TheSpool.net” calls the film, “a heartwarming spotlight on one of America's greatest televised teachers.”

Screening times are 3 pm and 6 pm on Friday (May 10), 3 pm on Saturday (May 11), 4 pm on Sunday (May 12), 2 pm on Monday (May 13), 3 pm and 6 pm on Wednesday (May 15), and 6 pm on Thursday (May 16). Admission is $8 for members and $11 for future members. Customers are encouraged to purchase tickets online. If seats are available, tickets can be purchased at the theater starting 30 minutes prior to each screening.
