CITY OF LEWES 2018 TULIP DIG
Free tulip bulbs, dig them up and take them home!!
The City of Lewes in partnership with Lewes In Bloom will have the annual tulip dig on Wednesday May 2nd from 8:00 a.m. to noon, with a rain date of Thursday May 3rd. Please, NO early birds before 8:00 a.m. start time. The public is invited to bring their shovels, spades, trowels, and bags to assist the city and Lewes In Bloom with removing the tulip bulbs and giving them a new home. Close to 20,000 tulip bulbs were planted by Lewes In Bloom for the 9th Annual Tulip Celebration.
The following areas are included in the tulip dig:
1812 Park
Citizens Bank on Second Street
City Hall
Canalfront Park- butterfly garden area next to the Net House
Gateway Garden (Island between Freeman Highway)
New Lewes Library
Mary Vessels Park
Otis Smith Park (aka Rotary Pavilion)
Post Office
Stango Park
St. Peters Church barrels
Zwaanandael Park
The public is reminded that only the areas listed above are included in the tulip dig. Digging cannot occur before 8:00 a.m. or in areas not listed. Each dig location will be supervised by a Lewes In Bloom member or Parks & Recreation commissioner. Do not remove any other plants or flowers besides tulips. Please bring your own gloves, trowel, and bags.
