Stephen King’s classic novel MISERY opens the 2023 Season at Clear Space on January 20 th . The 2023 Season is sponsored by Alice and Alfred Willis. MISERY follows successful romance novelist Paul Sheldon, who is rescued from a car crash by his “number one fan,” Annie Wilkes, and wakes up captive in her secluded home. While Paul is convalescing, Annie reads his latest book and becomes enraged when she discovers the author has killed off her favorite character, Misery Chastain. Annie forces Paul to write a new Misery novel, and he quickly realizes Annie has no intention of letting him go anywhere. The irate

The small cast of Lisa Hickman as Annie Wilkes, James Keegan as Paul Sheldon, and RickNazzaro as Buster, will have you on the edge of your seat and send shivers down your spine.Hickman (Annie), is performing her first role at Clear Space. She is a New York City based artist, with a passion for new work that has led her to perform at Dixon Place, H.E.R.E.,Bushwick Starr, Galapagos, Theatre for the New City, Axis Theater, The Tank, and The Mark O'Donnell Theatre. Hickman is an adjunct professor for Pace School of Performing Art and aproud alumni of Pace University (B.F.A. Acting,) Brooklyn College (M.F.A. Acting,) and H.B. Studio.
James Keegan (Paul) is no stranger to Clear Space, performing in FUN HOME in 2018. He has performed in theaters across the country. He has been a company member of the American Shakespeare Center for 15 seasons, where favorite roles include Macbeth, King Lear, Falstaff, Iago, and Shylock. Keegan is a member of the Actors Equity Association. The third member of this outstanding cast includes local artist, Rick Nazzaro (Buster). Nazzaro was last seen in ELF as Walter Hobbs and several other shows in the six seasons he has been at Clear Space Theatre.
MISERY is a show David Button, Artistic Director at Clear Space, has wanted to direct since seeing it on Broadway with Laurie Metcalf. The show is for mature audiences.
