Two fast-rising young musicians, both graduates of the Curtis Institute of Music and close colleagues, will share the Coastal Concerts stage and make one of their first appearances anywhere as a duo. Violinist Elena Urioste, who dazzled the audience in 2014 when she performed with pianist Michael Brown, will be paying a return visit, this time partnered with the formidably talented cellist Nicholas Canellakis.

A 2012-2014 BBC Radio 3 New Generation Artist, Ms. Urioste, who grew up in Philadelphia, was a first-place laureate in both the Junior and Senior divisions of the Sphinx Competition. She appeared with the Philadelphia Orchestra at the age of 13, and since then has made debuts with major orchestras throughout the United States and Europe, wowing audiences with her tone, lyricism and captivating stage presence.

Mr. Canellakis has become one of the most in-demand and innovative cellists of his generation. The New York Times has praised his playing as "impassioned" and "soulful," with "the audience seduced by Mr. Canellakis's rich, alluring tone." He is an artist of The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center where he regularly performs and is a winner of Lincoln Center’s CMS Two international auditions. A guest artist at many of the world’s leading music festivals, he is also co-artistic director of the Sedona Winter MusicFest in Arizona.

The debut pairing of these two exceptional musicians promises to be electrifying.
