EO Opening at the Cinema Art Theater in Lewes
Opening January 6, the Rehoboth Bach Film Society’s Cinema Art Theater presents EO, a tender drama about an animal who sees the world as a mysterious place.
EO, a gray donkey with melancholic eyes and a curious spirit, begins his life as a circus performer before escaping on a trek across the Polish and Italian countryside in a journey marked by absurdity and warmth in equal measure. He witnesses first-hand good and bad people and the experiences of joy and pain all while exploring a vision of modern Europe. Legendary filmmaker Jerzy Skolimowski directs one of his most free and visually inventive films yet, placing the viewer directly in the heart and mind of the four-legged protagonist. [2022, Poland/Italy,88 min, Rating: NR, in German with English subtitles]
Odie Henderson of the Boston Globe claims, “The majesty of this film comes from how the director and his team use an often surreal mix of music, editing, sound, and image to allow the viewer to experience the world as we assume EO does.”
Screening times are 3 pm on Fri (Jan 6), 6:30 pm on Sat (Jan 7) and 2 pm on Wed (Jan 11). Admission is $9 for members, $11.50 for general audiences and $5 for students. Purchase advance tickets at www.rehobothfilm.com or at the Cinema Art Theater box office in Lewes beginning 30 minutes prior to the screening.
