October 12th, 2017 - 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm
Thursday, October 12- An Evening at the Hook Lecture Series- Bats -7:00p.m. – 8:00p.m. A spokesperson from the Delaware Bat Spotters Project will talk about these intriguing creatures of the night, how they help us, and how we can help them.
The Project recruits volunteers to adopt and monitor bat colonies during the maternal nesting season. Bats are a major predator of insect pests, providing us with a valuable and free service. They are currently in trouble because of White Nose Syndrome, a disease that has caused major bat mortality in many states. Tracking the population gives researchers much-needed information about how this disease can be controlled. The Bat Spotters Project is committed to educating the public about these amazing animals and their importance in our ecosystem. Pre-registration is required by calling the refuge office at (302) 684-8419. Light refreshments will be provided during the An Evening at the Hook Lecture Series Events beginning at 6:30 p.m
