October 27th, 2018 - 9:00 am to 12:00 pm
Welcome to the Historic Lewes Farmers Market

Due to Expected Coastal Storm with High Winds

 The Market Will Be Closed
Saturday, October 27, 2018

Sorry, but due to the forecast of an expected coastal storm with high winds this Saturday Market will be closed. The Market will return to Shields Elementary School Parking lot on November 3 for Customer Appreciation Day, 9 am to 12 pm. See you there, and keep dry!

Celebrate Halloween at the Historic Lewes Farmers Market this Saturday!

At the October 27 Market, not only will customers find Brussel sprouts, carrots, sweet potatoes, collard greens, peppers, cauliflower, broccoli, cabbage, beets, winter squashes (including pumpkins), lettuces, apples, artisanal cheeses, mushrooms, oysters, cider, lamb, pork, jams and jellies, milk, yogurt and baked goods, but also some of their favorite farmers in costume to celebrate Halloween. Customers are also invited to come to market in costume.

The Market has moved to Shields Elementary School (Savannah Road and Sussex Drive) for the fall market season, and is open Saturdays, 9 am to noon, through November 17 (Saturday before Thanksgiving). Convenient parking can be found at the adjacent Lewes School parking lot.

The Market continues its SNAP (EBT Food Stamps) program. To help lower economic barriers to local, healthy food, the HLFM matches up to $20 each participant each week with HLFM Bonus Bucks. SNAP participants are encouraged to come to the SNAP tent at the Market to pick up the bonus $20 in tokens to use at the Market.  In addition to SNAP, the Historic Lewes Farmers Market welcomes participants in Delaware's Women, Infants and Children (WIC) program. WIC coupons can be used to purchase fresh fruits and vegetables at the Market. Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program (SFMNP) coupons are also welcome. This Saturday is the last Market of the season that WIC and SFMNP coupons can be accepted.

Customers who want to know what is happening at the Market each Saturday should subscribe to the HLFM newsletter sent to customers on Thursdays. Newsletter is free. To be included, customers may send their email address to [email protected].

Consistent with its mission, the HLFM is committed to supporting farmers who grow local fruits and vegetables -- a “real” farmers market that is producer-only.
