Historic Lewes Farmers Market

Local Blueberries Arrive at the Market
George H.P. Smith Park
Saturday, June 12, 2021
8 am – 12 pm

This Saturday, the first local blueberries arrive at the Market. Bennett Orchards brings the Duke variety of blueberries. In addition, farmers/producers will bring sugar snap peas, late strawberries, shelled peas, microgreens, broccoli, early tomatoes, Shishito peppers, new potatoes, lettuces, kale, cauliflower, pork sausages, pasture-raised chicken, grass-fed beef, tilapia fish, oysters, crabs, honey, mushrooms, eggs, jams, fresh-baked breads, locally roasted coffee, pastries made with fruit from the farmers at the market, herb, veggie, and flower plants, and so much more. The Historic Lewes Farmers Market is unique in that it is producer-only—customers are able to buy directly from the farmer who grew the produce. Only vendors who grow, raise or produce what they sell are allowed in this market. The HLFM is where the farmers are!

The Saturday market takes place at George H.P. Smith Park, at the corner of Dupont and Johnson’s Avenues. However, in case of inclement weather, the Market moves to Shields Elementary School Parking lot, Sussex Drive and Savannah Road.

Click here for a full list of vendor's at the market on June 12.

The HLFM’s Wednesday market at Crooked Hammock Brewery is now open from 8 to 11am with 11 farmers/producers: 302 Aquaponics, Baywater Farms, Bennett Orchards, Bodine Farms, Dittmar Family Farms, Hattie’s Garden, Jackie Blues, Kalmar Farm, Mandala Pies, Stag Run Farm, and Totem Farms.

The Market continues its SNAP (EBT Food Stamps) program. To help lower economic barriers to local, healthy food, the HLFM matches up to $20 each participant each week with HLFM Bonus Bucks. SNAP participants are encouraged to come to the SNAP tent at the Market to pick up the bonus $20 in tokens to use at the Market. WIC and SFMNP coupons will also be accepted at the market in mid-June.

The HLFM also continues its partnership with Epworth United Methodist Church Food Pantry. HLFM customers who want to help feed the local community may purchase local produce, meats, milk, and other food from growers at the Market to donate to the Epworth program every Saturday. At the end of the Market, the produce and other foods are gathered and given to Epworth. The HLFM thanks its customers for their generosity.
