THE HUMMINGBIRD PROJECT opening at the Cinema Art Theater

April 2nd, 2019 - 1:00 pm to April 5th, 2019 - 1:00 pm

THE HUMMINGBIRD PROJECT OPENING AT THE CINEMA ART THEATER

Starting on April 5, “The Hummingbird Project”, a suspenseful drama of humanity versus corporate greed, will be playing at the Rehoboth Beach Film Society’s Cinema Art Theater.

In this modern epic, award winning director Kim Nguyen exposes the ruthless edge of our increasingly digital world. Cousins from New York, Vincent (Jesse Eisenberg) and Anton (Alexander Skarsgård) are players in the high-stakes game of High-Frequency Trading, where winning is measured in milliseconds. Their dream? To build a straight fiber-optic cable line between Kansas and New Jersey, making them millions. But nothing is straightforward for this flawed pair. Anton is the brains, Vincent is the hustler, and together they push each other and everyone around them to the breaking point with their quixotic adventure. Constantly breathing down their necks is their old boss Eva Torres (Salma Hayek), a powerful, intoxicating and manipulative trader who will stop at nothing to beat them at their own game.

[2019, Belgium/Canada, 111 minutes, Rated: R for language].

Gary Goldstein states “…writer-director Kim Nguyen has crafted a smartly entertaining and unexpectedly human film” with this financial thriller. Adam Graham of “Detroit News” describes the film as “An invigorating snapshot of greed that examines how far competitors will go to gain even the slightest fraction of an edge over their rivals in the stock market.”

Screening times are 1:00 pm on Friday (Apr 5), 3:30 pm on Sunday (Apr 7), 1:00 pm and 4:00 pm on Wednesday (Apr 10) and 4:00 pm and 7:00 pm on Thursday (Apr 11). Admission is $8 for members and $11 for future members. Customers are encouraged to purchase tickets online. If seats are available, tickets can be purchased at the theater starting 30 minutes prior to each screening.
