Lights of Life Gala

February 25th, 2017 - 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm
The Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition (DBCC) is pleased to announce the Lights of Life gala will take place on Saturday, February 25th, from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. at Dover Downs Hotel & Casino in Dover, Delaware. This year’s Oscar themed celebration “Lights, Camera, Auction” will be an evening of living and giving in support of those affected by breast cancer. Lights of Life is Delaware’s premier breast cancer fundraiser with all proceeds benefiting DBCC’s programs and services in the local community. Through fundraising efforts, DBCC proudly serves nearly 6,000 women and men a year in Delaware. Individual reservations are $150 with various levels of sponsorship beginning at $500.

This year’s gala will feature hors d’oeuvres, a plated dinner, and an open bar. In the style of the Oscars, guests will have the opportunity to walk the paparazzi red carpet and take Hollywood celebrity photos. The entertainment of the evening will feature a DJ and dancing, live and silent auction, along with a very touching fashion show featuring local breast cancer survivors. The live auction will feature one-of-a-kind trips, experiences, and items you cannot find in stores like a low digit license plate #PC1142 and two general admission 4-day passes to Firefly Music Festival 2017.

Each year, community members support the Lights of Life gala through donations, volunteering, sponsorships, and attendance in a cooperative effort to come together and support our neighbors faced with breast cancer. The 2017 Lights of Life gala is chaired by Okemah Strickland. As of January 20th, major event sponsors include Bayhealth Medical Center, Beebe Healthcare, Dedicated to Women Ob-Gyn, M&T Bank, Delaware Electric Cooperative, L&W Insurance, Inc., Nanticoke Health Services, Regional Hematology and Oncology, P.A., The Meoli Companies, Wealth Management Group, LLC, Joe & Susan Chinnici,  A Cut Above, Horty & Horty, P.A., Tanger Outlets, WSFS Bank, Eileen Filliben Edmunds & Nate Edmunds, Central Delaware Speech Language Pathology, Chick-fil-A North Dover, Delaware State Education Association, Inc., Del-One Federal Credit Union, Edgewell Personal Care, Epsilon Iota Omega Chapter, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, ModernThink, Papen Farms, Inc., Pratt Insurance,  Proctor & Gamble Dover Wipes Plant, Regional Hematology and Oncology, SSD Technology Partners, T. “This year’s Lights of Life gala will be a celebration in support of survivorship and in remembrance of those we’ve lost to breast cancer,” noted Eileen Filliben Edmunds, the incoming executive director of DBCC. “As a two time survivor myself, I am really looking forward to this signature event which brings together survivors, community members, healthcare providers, and friends of the agency for a magical evening. The funds raised at Lights of Life empower DBCC to deliver on its mission and improve the lives of women in Delaware and beyond.”

The funds raised at the 2016 Lights of Life gala were used to support breast cancer programs in Delaware which increase breast cancer awareness, promote the importance of early detection, provide access to mammograms and bilingual health navigators, and deliver support and resources to women and men who have been diagnosed with breast cancer.
