Maritime Living History Festival and 56th Annual Outdoor Antiques Show
The Lewes Historical Society is pleased to celebrate the 56th Anniversary of its Outdoor Antiques Show in combination with the Society's Maritime Living History Festival on the NEW date of Saturday September 5, 2020, at the Lewes Historical Society Campus at 110 Shipcarpenter Street.
Learn about how maritime history has affected Lewes, throughout the past centuries to the present, while surrounding yourself with antique treasures from all periods. High quality antiques and vintage dealers participating in the show will be featuring 18th century to early 20th century antiques. Antique Dealers will be actively displaying and selling their pieces between 9 am and 4 pm.
Lewes was once an epicenter of maritime activity. The historic Shipcarpenter Street Campus will come to life, as living maritime historians from throughout the Atlantic Seaboard, inhabit the property, depicting the maritime and naval industries during the past three centuries. Visitors will have the opportunity to engage with interpreters and learn about the hardships and lives of sailors ashore and afloat, through demonstrations of traditional maritime trades.
The streets of downtown Lewes will be inhabited by sailors participating in vignettes and demonstrations that will take place throughout the day between 9 am and 5 pm.
Extended Maritime Tours will be offered throughout the day, with the evening concluding at Simon Marriner's Tavern with a Traditional Chantey Night from 7 pm to 9 pm.
If you are interested in participating as a living historian, please email [email protected].
