THE MIDWIFE OPENING AT THE CINEMA ART THEATER

September 1st, 2017 - 4:00 pm
THE MIDWIFE OPENING AT THE CINEMA ART THEATER

Starting on September 1st the Rehoboth Beach Film Society’s Cinema Art Theater will present THE MIDWIFE, a gentle drama about two contrasting personalities and the personal, but peculiar relationship they share.

Two of French cinema’s biggest stars shine in this bittersweet drama about the unlikely friendship that develops between Claire (Catherine Frot), a talented but tightly wound midwife, and Béatrice (Catherine Deneuve), the estranged, free-spirited mistress of Claire’s late father. Though polar opposites in almost every way, the two come to rely on each other as they cope with the unusual circumstance that brought them together in this sharp character study from the César-award winning director Martin Provost (Séraphine). [2017, France, Runtime: 117 mins., Not Rated]

THE MIDWIFE was part of the official selection for the 2017 Berlin International Film Festival, the 2017 Seattle International Film Festival, and the 2017 Sacramento French Film Festival.

“A stellar cast with terrific performances…a crowd pleaser!” declares Justin Mintzer of “The Hollywood Reporter”. Kimberly Myers of “The Playlist” describes the film as “Unexpectedly funny and sweet…. A celebration of life and its pleasures, big and small”.

Screening times are 4:00 pm and 7:00 pm on Friday and Saturday (September 1 & 2), 4:00 pm on Sunday (September 3), 4:00 pm and 7:00 pm on Monday (September 4), 1:00 pm, 4:00 pm and 7:00 pm on Wednesday (September 6) and 4:00 pm and 7:00 pm on Thursday (September 7). Tickets can be purchased at the Cinema Art Theater, starting 30 minutes prior to each screening. Admission for a screening is $8 for RBFS members and $10 for future members. All screenings are held at the Cinema Art Theater located at 17701 Dartmouth Drive in Dartmouth Plaza, behind the Lewes Wawa.
