JOYLAND Opening at the Cinema Art Theater in Lewes
Opening June 2, the Rehoboth Beach Film Society’s Cinema Art Theater presents Joyland, an deeply affecting drama from filmmaker Saim Sadiq that addresses how one country’s patriarchy oppresses women and the LGBTQ community.
The Ranas--a happily patriarchal joint family--yearn for the birth of a baby boy to continue the family line. Their youngest son (Ali Junejo) secretly joins an erotic dance theatre and falls for an ambitious trans starlet.
