ITZHAK Opening at the Cinema Art Theater

June 8th, 2018 - 4:00 pm
ITZHAK OPENING AT THE CINEMA ART THEATER

Starting on June 8th, the Rehoboth Beach Film Society’s Cinema Art Theater will present ITZHAK, a documentary about the inspiring life of violin virtuoso Itzhak Perlman.

From Schubert to Strauss, Bach to Brahms, Mozart to…Billy Joel, Itzhak Perlman’s violin playing transcends mere performance to evoke the celebrations and struggles of real life; “praying with the violin,” says renowned Tel Aviv violinmaker Amnon Weinstein. Alison Chernick’s enchanting documentary looks beyond the sublime musician, to see the polio survivor whose parents emigrated from Poland to Israel, the young man who struggled to be taken seriously as a music student when schools saw only his disability. As charming and entrancing as the famous violinist himself, ITZHAK is a portrait of musical virtuosity seamlessly enclosed in warmth, humor, and above all, love. [2017, Israel and US, Runtime: 82 minutes, Not Rated].

“A love story on so many levels – Perlman’s love of music, the violin, of life itself,” writes Ray Rogers of “Hollywood Reporter”. “Good music and good company make ITZHAK a pleasure,” writes Dennis Harvey of “Variety”. “Briskly entertaining.”

Screening times are 4:00 pm on Friday (June 8), 7:00 pm on Saturday (June 9), 4:00 pm on Sunday (June 10), 1:00 pm on Monday (June 11), and 4:00 pm on Wednesday (June 13). Admission for CAT: THIS WEEK films is $8 for members and $11 for future members. Customers are encouraged to purchase tickets online. If seats are available, tickets can be purchased at the theater, starting 30 minutes prior to each screening.
