GREED Opening at the Cinema Art Theater

March 6th, 2020 - 3:00 pm

GREED Opening at the Cinema Art Theater

Starting on March 6, the Rehoboth Beach Film Society’s Cinema Art Theater will present “Greed,” a satirical drama telling the fictional story of a self-made billionaire whose retail empire is in crisis.

For 30 years Sir Richard McCreadie (Steve Coogan) has ruled the world of retail fashion, bringing the high street to the catwalk and the catwalk to the high street. But after a damaging public inquiry amid the misuse of the female garment workers who toil on his trendy clothing line, his image is tarnished. To save his reputation, he decides to bounce back with a highly publicized and extravagant party celebrating his 60th birthday on the Greek island of Mykonos. A satire on the grotesque inequality of wealth in the fashion industry, the film sees McCreadie’s rise and fall through the eyes of his biographer, Nick (David Mitchell). [2020, UK, 104 min, Rated: R].

Edward Douglas of “The Weekend Warrior” remarks, “Very funny but with a clear and poignant message about what the likes of "Greedy" are regularly getting away with at the expense of beleaguered workers in poverty-stricken countries.” Alexa Dalby of “Dog and World” exclaims, “A gloriously over-the-top, rollicking satire.”

Screening times are 3 pm and 6 pm on Fri (Mar 6), 1 pm and 3:30 pm on Sat (Mar 7), 2 pm on Sun (Mar 8), 1:30 pm on Mon (Mar 9), 5 pm on Wed (Mar 11) and 2 pm and 6 pm on Thu (Mar 12). Admission is $8 for members and $11 for future members. Customers are encouraged to purchase tickets online. If seats are available, tickets can be purchased at the theater starting 30 minutes prior to each screening.
