One last concert for the 2020 Lewes Summer Concert Series will be tonight, Tuesday August 18th with Vinyl Shockley. Vinyl Shockley is a six-piece band that plays original music inspired by the rhythm and blues of the 50’s, 60’s, and 70’s that came out of Memphis, Muscle Shoals, and New Orleans. Ed Shockley was headed in that direction out of the mid-80’s, even before the genre had the name ‘Americana’.  As a singer, Shockley has been compared to K’eb Mo and Van Morrison. Because he’s a singing drummer, he also gets compared to Levon Helm. “Van and Levon are two of my heroes, so be careful how you talk about them” Shockley replied. Joining Ed on guitar and as co-writer is Kevin Walsh.

We hope to see you for the last concert of the 2020 season at Stango Park, 101 Adams Ave, Lewes from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Bring your chairs, blankets and snacks and enjoy the music under the trees.  We are also looking for your feedback this year about how you felt the concerts were ran and the COVID social distancing guidelines.  Please take a moment to fill out the online survey here https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/2020LewesConcerts.

Reminder for all attendees to please follow the COVID social distancing guidelines for Outdoor Gatherings by the Governor including sitting at least 6 feet away from other non-family member groups, wear a mask when not in your seat, and use hand sanitizer often.  The City will have 2 portable toilets at the concert venue for concert patrons only and hand sanitizer will be provided.

Concerts are free and provide a family friendly event with diverse music options. All are welcome to bring chairs, blankets, snacks, and their dancing shoes.  The 2020 summer concert series lineup is sponsored by the City of Lewes, WSFS Bank, and by a grant from the Delaware Division of the Arts, a state agency, in partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts. The Division promotes Delaware art events on www.DelawareScene.com.  Weekly concert updates and band announcements can be found on the Lewes parks and recreation Facebook page, or by signing up for email notifications by visiting the City website, Sign up for Notifications, and subscribing to Summer Concert Series http://www.ci.lewes.de.us/list.aspx.
